DO YOU KNOW THAT THE MEMORIAL OF CHRIST'S DEATH IS IN THURSDAY, NISAN 14TH 5778 (Hebrew Calendar): MARCH 29, 2018 AFTER THE SUNSET?

http://yomelyah.com/

The setting of the date of the Memorial on the evening of March 31, 2018 is inaccurate, since this date corresponds to 16 Nisan (and not 14 Nisan)

The biblical rule of fixing the date is the same as setting the date of the biblical Passover, namely, the fourteenth day after the new moon, corresponding to the first day of the month: "In the first month, on the 14th day of the month, in the evening, you are to eat unleavened bread until the 21st day of the month, in the evening"(Exodus 12:18). This celebration precedes the full moon that takes place on the fifteenth day of the month. However, the number of days that go from the new moon to the full moon, is not always constant (it can vary by one day). This is probably why Jehovah mentioned the biblical rule of the fourteenth day of Nisan (following the new moon) (rather than the first full moon of the spring equinox, of which there is no trace in the Bible in as a landmark for Passover and then the Memorial).

Update:

Answer to Ghost Of Christmas Past: The date of the commemoration of the death of Christ is the 14th day after the new moon that marks the beginning of the month of Nisan, as you can read above, in Exodus that I remember You: "In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, in the evening YOU are to eat unfermented cakes down till the twenty-first day of the month in the evening" (Exodus 12:18).

Update 2:

When did occur the last new moon that would preceed the nisan14th? In March 17, 2 p.m. in Jerusalem., 2018. IT IS AN ASTRONOMIC FACT. According this fact, the 14th day is in March 30th, 2018 in Jerusalem. Due to the fact that the hebraic day begins in the evening (after the sunset) preceeding this same day, we can conclude that the exact moment of celebrating the memorial of the death of Jesus Christ is in March 29th after the sunset.

Update 3:

Regarding the Jew, they took in account this ASTRONOMIC FACT of the new moon in March 17th. But, they will celebrate the Passover in the evening after the sunset that corresponds in Nisan 15th. It is a difference with the Bible because, according particularly Mark 14,15 we can understand that Jesus Christ celebrated his last Passover in the evening after the sunset that begun Nisan 14th, 33 C.E. And he died in the same day of Nisan 14th at 3 p.m. before the sunset of this day.

Update 4:

Regarding the Jws, they base the fixing the "observed" new moon in Jerusalem that could extend the exact moment of the "astronomic" new with more than 8 hours (later). Considering that could have a day of difference, normally they would celebrate in the evening of march 30th after the sunset, corresponding in nisan 15th. The mystery is that they put the day of the memorial of the death of Jesus Christ two days later, in Nisan 16th in the day of his resurrection. Why? I really don't know...

Update 5:

ANSWER TO TeeM: The explanation you gave has no biblical basis (Acts 17:11), it is based on a human tradition that is described as in "biblical times". Why, in that case the Jews would be wrong in respecting the exact moment of the lunation due of our technical progress?

Update 6:

Nowadays, we can very exactly know WHEN it is the new moon. JEHOVAH GOD HIMSELF GAVE THE REQUIREMENT IN THE BIBLE (EXODUS 12:18). WHY DO YOU PUT THE EXPLANATIONS OF THE WATCH TOWER OVER THE BIBLE (There is no biblical quotation in your explanation)?

Update 7:

Why don’t you simply obey the Bible instruction without falling into human explanations that often invalidate the Word of God (Matthew 15:3-6)?

Friend I admire your Bible accuracy in predicting the Passover and the Last Supper of Jesus Christ but I need to tell you something because the 7 Day Adventist have a thing called Sunday law where they adamantly believe that Saturday is the Sabbath and we're not supposed to worship God on Sunday let us as Christians not cave in to such legalism there is absolutely no requirement in the Bible and I mean none that says You must make sure that the moon is full and that it is nice and the 14th Passover to commemorate the Last Supper of Jesus Christ the Bible says that Jesus said to his apostles and as often as you do this thing do this in remembrance of me and then in Corinthians and Galatians you here of Paul and Timothy and other apostles commemorating the breaking of the bread and the drinking of the wine and specifically warning the congregation's not to come to church hungry just to partake in the Lord's evening meal. So enjoy the Lord's Memorial honorably on whatever day you do it

Your JW feast means little to me since you don't even observe it properly. Almost no one partakes of the elements.

    *** w76 2/1 p. 73 “Keep Doing This in Remembrance of Me” ***

The modern Jewish calendar determines the beginning of their month of Nisan by the astronomical new moon. However, usually it is eighteen hours or more later when the first sliver of the crescent of the new moon becomes visible in Jerusalem. Each year, in recent times, the governing body of Jehovah’s witnesses has determined the actual new moon that becomes visible in Jerusalem, which is the way the first of Nisan was determined in Biblical times. For this reason often there has been a difference of a day or two between the Memorial date of Jehovah’s witnesses and the Nisan 14 date according to the modern Jewish calendar.

    *** rs p. 269 par. 2 Memorial (Lord’s Evening Meal) ***

Jehovah’s Witnesses observe the Memorial after sundown on Nisan 14, according to the reckoning of the Jewish calendar that was common in the first century. The Jewish day begins at sundown and extends until the following sundown. So Jesus died on the same Jewish calendar day that he instituted the Memorial. The beginning of the month of Nisan was the sunset after the new moon nearest the spring equinox became visible in Jerusalem. The Memorial date is 14 days thereafter. (Thus the date for the Memorial may not coincide with that of the Passover kept by modern-day Jews. Why not? The start of their calendar months is set to coincide with the astronomical new moon, not the visible new moon over Jerusalem, which may come 18 to 30 hours later. Also, most Jews today keep the Passover on Nisan 15, not on the 14th as did Jesus in harmony with what was stated in the Mosaic Law.)

This is not a scriptural discussion, but the scientific usage of the 'astronomical' new moon. Unlike today, the 1st century Jews didn't have the modern telescopes that can fix the 'new moon' down to the second.

In the 1st century this was done with the human eye. It is by following this system, Jehovah's Witnesses determine Nisan 14th.

You mean: YOUR memorial of Christ's death.

You don't mean: THE memorial of Christ's death, as if there were one and only one. (There is NOT one and only one, no matter what you might wish.)

Who has set a date of the evening of March 31 to memorialize Christ's death? (I haven't. Most Christians haven't.)

  • The early Church fathers chose to celebrate the death of Jesus on the day before the Passover Sabbath and to celebrate his resurrection the day after. Since the time of Jesus, the Jewish authorities have changed their calendar twice. Western Christianity celebrates the feast of Jesus's resurrection according to the calendar in force at the time, namely the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. The seasons don't change so dramatically in the Middle East, but the first change of the Jewish calendar was to accommodate Jews farming beside the Baltic. This system is used by the Eastern Churches. The calendar was changed a third time so that Passover and the Eastern and Western celebrations of Easter rarely coincide.

JWs make the mistake of assuming that the modern Jewish religion is the same as the religion followed by Jesus. It is not. Jesus was an Essene and most of that sect became Christians. Modern Jews are a regrouping of the Pharisaic sect - and we all know what Jesus had to say about them.

Don't sweat the small stuff. The Sabbath was made for man, not man made for the Sabbath. It's the same with everything.
