The idea that Democrats support Palestinians more than Israel is simply false. However, Democrats tend to identify with the downtrodden and to try and help them out. As the victims of a 40-year long occupation, the Palestinians are in a lot of sympathy from people on the left.

Morality might be a factor. You know, siding with a victim whom you feel has been treated unfairly, even if it isn't in your interest. Not everything in life has to be a selfish decision.
