Why are some Christian's so crazy?

It is consistently said in the Bible that Christians should inspire others through their conduct.

I'm sure you and I both know some Christians who really 'get it', who are ambassadors for their faith, whose lives are a living example. (Well, -I- know a few people like that.) The problem is human nature. People want to believe they know something others don't. They want to believe God loves them more than others. They want to believe they are aligned with Universal Truth and Universal Power, and that they'll be rewarded forever and others will be punished forever--and they have it coming!

Also, in the US, the fundamentalist Christian movement has been co-opted by the Republican Party to the point where otherwise intelligent, otherwise well-meaning Christians are confused between spiritual and political ideas. Think God really hates gays and illegal immigrants? Think Islam is the religion of murder and war? And all Democrats are 'atheists'? Where do you think those ideas come from?

Also the ludicrous idea that our founding fathers were also fundamentalists who wanted Christians to have special rights and privileges and impose their morals by force on the rest of us. But this idea is VERY attractive to a lot of Christians.

Even CS Lewis himself pointed out that strong believers are more susceptible to corruption and being led astray than 'skeptics'.

I definitely agree with you it’s sad that some of are brothers and sisters in god see shouting at others as they way to show them gods love and compassion.

Folks like that are are only fooling themselves by thinking that they are saved. None of us have the right to judge others. I will join you in praying for your boyfriends salvation ! Jesus loves you both young lady !!!

Some people are just that way religion has nothing to do with it.

Pray for the misguided Christian who gives the faith a bad name. Do what you can to be a good example of what true and compassionate Christianity is supposed to be. If someone allows a screaming nut to convince them that all Christians are crazy, then they have deeper issues in their heart.

Why is your question in POLITICS? Anyway, some people are overly radical about their religion or lack of it. People who go around yelling at people and condemning them (without knowing their stories), while supposedly using the Bible, are just bullies.

The problem is that there are rules in Christianity. These rules vary according to interpretation, so you may be cool with the likes of me, but others may say that I deserve to burn.

That sounds like one of those crazy street preachers. But they are not crazy. They are skilled at manipulating people. They use religion to make a living.

You don't try to shove god down atheists' throats, you try to shove atheists down your throat. More Christian college girls should follow your example. 😉
