Why do I hate the daylight?

I am a Night Owl I prefer it to be dark and quiet and am awake throughout the night up until 6:00 AM, when I hear the birds chirping and see the sun begin to peer through my window I get a very depressed feeling.

I can go outside and do all sorts of things during the day there are more options during the day, but nothing really feels all that special or interesting compared to the things I do during the night. During the night I feel more relaxed less on edge. I feel like the person I am supposed to be. It's relaxing.

As far as I know I do not have depression or any other mental health problem.

I feel the same way! I do a lot of writing, and write most effectively between midnight and sunrise. I hate daylight hours! If I go for a walk on a sunny day, I would be tempted to lie down on the sidewalk, and go to sleep right there. You're not the only one.

This is happening to me as well. I'm not sure what this is....perhaps the overproduction of some hormone or something.

Relax, you're not alone. Don't beat yourself up about it. If you're living at home and in school do what you have to do. When you get out on your own look for a night shift job. Some of us are just night owls is all (yeah, me too) and it is NOT a mental health problem. Read this science article about it and you'll feel a lot better.

Than you have to get a work you can do at night, than you might feel better, but I just think how old you might be.
