I have read and now watched the film of ready player one and was wondering which version you thought was better.?

I think I preferred the book for its references, because they were closer to my generation, and I preferred the ending, but the film had a tighter story structure more closely honed to a moral message.

They both have advantages.

I preferred the film, as it wasn't too "in-your-face" with the pop culture references and it improved the romance subplot by making less cringe-y but still making Wade awkward.

I also prefer the redone challenges in the film more than the book challenges.

The book was better as is often the case
