Usually not. If someone has a gun and survives, that usually means they would have survived anyway. Even more surprisingly, when there are armed Secret Service agents to try to do the saving, it's sometimes an unarmed bystander who actually is successful at doing the saving.

Sure. But guns aren't a great tool for personal self defense in most situations.

In the USA an average of 2.8 million crimes per year are prevented by law abiding citizens with guns.

Sometimes, if they're not being handled by an American, they can shoot the right people too

During the GREAT WESTERN EXPANSION , before farming was able to produce enough food to feed more then the farmer himself , guns were absolutely vital for human survival. Do you think that what was true in the early 19th century holds true for today?
