How to get a doctor to prescribe me an Emotional Support Animal?

Hey all, I am a 19 year old male struggling with social anxiety and depression. I have found that having a pet helps me emotionally, as I think a lot of my depression is linked to loneliness. I want to get an emotional support animal, but am afraid a therapist might think medication is rather the answer. Any help? Thanks

I am on meds for anxiety but got my cat as a support animal. If your docotor ot therapist is someone you trust they shoumd listen to your needs and ideas. If you tell them having your pet around makes you feel better they should support that. My doctor did. I just gave them a few instances when my cat made ne feel better and they took my words into consideration. A few weeks later everything was set and done. Just talk to them and express how much you believe it will help you. And if you do not want to use meds tell them you want to try a different direction first. Hope this helps!

Get an emotional support girlfriend instead. You can take them anywhere, you do not need a prescription, and they are a great cure for loneliness.
