Has anybody ever had a stool sample?

So I’ve been having digestive problems and I was wondering what can a stool sample detect and how long do the results take? Because I’ve been waiting for 2 days

Has anybody ever done this?

There are two types of stool test: faecal occult blood test and stool culture. The occult blood test detects if there is any blood, usually used as screening tool for bowel cancer for older aged men and women. The one that you most likely got was a stool culture which looks for pathogen and bacteria that may be causing your digestive problem. It usually takes 2-3 days but mine this year took 4 days.

The doctor would also have told you when to expect results.
