How can the US be the "land of the free" with the highest prison population in the world?

Because that's nothing to do with being the "land of the free". Commit crime and you go to prison. You're free to commit crime and take the consequences. It so happens that the USA has some of the world's longest prison sentences so of course it has the world's largest prison population.

By inference that means the US has the highest crime rate in the world that's why they have the highest number of prisons and prisoners.

We have more freedom than any other country in the world.

See with great freedom comes great responsibility and criminals do not have great responsibility.

Prisoners gave up their freedom when they decided to break the law.

More criminals in prison means more freedom for the rest of us.

Over half of the crimes including half of the homicides in the United States are committed by young African American males. Yet they're only 6% of the U.S. population.

Americans have actual freedom of speech. Something inferior non Americans aka sub human monsters will never have.

Not that everyone in jail is actually in prison while shooting people, falsifying documents in someone elses name while wearing immortal armour.

The US is not the land of the free. We're not the best education, or the hardest working, or the most compassionate. We just spend more on our military than any other country. That's really the only thing which sets us apart.

American exceptionalism is dead thanks to 40 years of ruinous conservative policy.

The land of the free offers more the opportunity to stray outside the legal lines.

We have only 5% of the world's population yet 25% of the world's prison population! We are NOT the land of the free in any way as our government makes it so people turn to crime since it is a business and a fulfills a racist agenda. There is NO incentive to fix crime whatsoever, that's why many of our schools model prisons and funnel youth to prisons. SICK.
