Am I being too needy or is my boyfriend too distant?

My relationship is not vanilla so I am not sure I will get the right kind of answers here. I am a "Little Girl" as in BDSM roles. My boyfriend has never been with anyone like me. He is a wonderful boyfriend but he isn't a DD. He has called me baby a few times, never princess. He doesn't ask me about little things. He wants me to do hard grown up things when I am in little space. I failed him the other day it made me cry and I told him I punished myself. He didn't ask how just said I don't love him. If there is any experienced Little's or DD's could you help me know am I just being insecure ?
