If Jesus is God why did he seek approval and why did the Father say he was pleased with his Son?

You are exactly right. The Bible clearly teaches us that God is the Father and Jesus his son. They are not one but two different beings.

Jesus praying to his father: "This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. John 17: 3.

Here are a few more that provw to us they are not the same:

The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him." (John 13:16) Jesus said on numerous occasions that, "the Father… hath sent me." (John 5:37,6:37)

Jesus prays to God. (John 17:1-3)

Jesus has faith in God. (Hebrews 2:17,18, Hebrews 3:2)

Jesus is a servant of God. (Acts 3:13)

Jesus does not know things God knows. (Mark 13:32, Revelation 1:1)

Jesus worships God. (John 4:22)

Jesus has one who is God to him. (Revelation 3:12)

Jesus is in subjection to God. (1 Corinthians 15:28)

Jesus' head is God. (1 Corinthians 11:1)

Jesus has reverent submission, fear, of God. (Hebrews 5:7)

Jesus didn't seek approval. "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased" is a statement of INFORMATION, telling us how the Father feels about the Son.

He is exactly like his Father.

Because Jesus is a God, just like his Father is, just as we can be. If you understand this, you understand where Gods come from, and how.

It is interesting that Jesus pointed out the law (in defense against the false "blasphemy" accusation) applies not to just him, but to any who accepts the word of God....

John 10

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Psalms 82

6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

I believe what Jesus said.

Jesus lived in heaven before, just as we all did, as spirits without a body. Jesus descended, obtained a body, was baptized, died, resurrected and ascended to heaven. Jesus also said he did nothing but what the father did. If you believe you can go to heaven, you must also believe you descended from heaven, as Jesus said.

John 5:19

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Philippians 2

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Do you remember what happened with Cain and Abel? Do you see any parallels?

Did God's proclamation for Jesus stop either Jesus or John The Baptist from working for God? Whereas before, satan worked through Cain to murder the flesh of his brother Abel and to try to murder the soul of Cain by committing such abuse of power over someone else, John The Baptist was honored to be used by God to work his part of God's plan through Jesus Christ.

because in the role of the kinsman redeemer who kinned himself to Man, he had to be the Perfect Servant who served God faithfully.

Jesus was the Son of God, not God.

In order to qualify as the Saviour of humanity, Jesus had to live a human life pleasing to God - i.e. without sin. It's not about seeking approval, but about fulfilling His mission.
