Medical question. If someone vomits several hours after eating, why would the food be totally undigested?

    If this happens frequently doctors might consider the possibility of gastroparesis or obstruction of the outlet of the stomach. If it only happens once or twice, doctors will generally chalk it up to "one of those things".

    Not enough stomach acid, food not chewed before swallowing, lack of bile salts (gall bladder problem), intestinal blockage (stomach can't empty).
