After you clean it inside and out, and give it a loving coat of oil. Place it it its case. Noit the gun cabinet, or display case. But its storage case. If your problem is rust, store it with dessicant packs.

Rust dust is a micro biological residue from bacteria in a toxic environment which could under

certain conditions be fatal to all exposed. For self protection I would destroy the firearm and place

pieces in a sealed container and bury the container at least 6 feet deep in sandy soil. Good luck.

    What kind of oil?

What kind of metal is revolver made from?

    Pull it out of what?

    How was it stored, where?

1 Watch a you tube video how to clean and store that gun correctly, you can find one, I did.

    2. Follow the instructions and do not make up your own steps.

    3. Good luck.

Note, My variety of guns are stored in a safe wrapped in old used cotton socks or purchased Gun Socks for the rifles, no "extra" oils other than needed, and a reusable descant pack is always in the safe. After ten plus years I have had no issues.

Condensation attracts dust and dust varies as to what elements or chemicals may be in that dust. If you live in a humid climate this will be more of a problem than maybe some of the southwestern states.
