I was on inhaled corticosteroids for a time and had no side effects... fortunately, my asthma has quieted down as I got older so I haven't needed to take them recently but when I was on them, I didn't have any problems.

And so have I Bill. I was given these 2 weeks ago, Fostair. The Asthma Nurse said they are safe and said to start with one puff twice a day, but like yourself I have put it off. They must be OK as many people take them daily, BUT, , I'm still thinking about it.
