How can the Treaty of Versailles lead to the rise of Nazism and WW2?
After the defeat of Germany in the First World War, Germany was made to sign the Treaty of Versailles. It was said this bankrupted Germany and when 1929 occurred, It led to the rise of Nazism and WW2.
However, the Dawes Plan, formulated by US Vice President Charles Dawes, led American companies to invest heavily in Germany. By the middle of the twenties, Germany has more or less paid back most of the debt.
If that was the case, Germany should no longer be bankrupt. If that was the case, how could the Treaty of Versailles cause the rise of Nazism and WW2?

Germany after they lost had agreed to pay for all the damages due to the war (World War I) and were bound by contract. As a consequence, Germany went through a depression and many were in poverty. After Germany's defeat, the German government constructed a new form of government called the Weimar Republic. Hitler came into power because like him, a lot of people could not accept the fact that they lost WWI. Hitler got support from the general public because he brought prosperity back into Germany and was viewed as a hero. Hitler did away with the Weimar Republic and built the Nazi government (The Third Reich) and he refused fulfill the Treaty of Versailles contract. He had Germany stop reimbursing countries and he secretly built a new military which he wasn't supposed to do under the Treaty of Versailles contract.

1st thing you got wrong ""Germany was made to sign the Treaty of Versailles"
Nobody "made" germany do anything
after the 1918 armistice germany had a choice- sign the treaty or WW1 would restart
they CHOSE to sign it
(the armistice didnt end WW1 -it was just an agreement to stop fighting)
2nd thing you got wrong "It was said this bankrupted Germany and when 1929 occurred"
The US loaned money to germany in order to rebuild its industry
If they had done this and repaid the money under the terms of the treaty, they wouldnt have become bankrupt
BUT instead of rebuilding they chose to spend the money on "high living"
What actually bankrupted germany was the US calling in its loan(s) which germany couldnt repay
"By the middle of the twenties, Germany has more or less paid back most of the debt". - No it hadnt
YES money had flowed back to the US- but that wasnt loan repayments- THAT was the US companies getting return on its investments - THEY werent owed ANY money - the US government was
The RISE of nazism was the mentality of the german people being exploited by the nazi party
In german eyes they had not "lost" the war cos it was only an armistice - THEY believed they had been betrayed by politicians who had sold out the army (cos THATS what the army told them - The fact that the army command and control had collapsed and washed its hands of the war, handing over control of the country to politicians to end it, NEVER entered their minds) - As a result THEY saw the treaty as a betrayal of the country by politicians with the terms of it humiliating - COURSE it was humiliating - german HAD to agree to whatever terms were in it COS THE ARMY WOULDNT CONTINUE TO FIGHT IF THEY DIDNT SIGN)
The nazi played on this and promised to restore the prestige of germany - THIS was exactly what the army hierarchy wanted to hear (cos if washed away THEIR betrayal of germany) and the people wanted to hear (cos it restored their national pride)

Propaganda Used By Hitler he Knows that it was based on this
By the terms of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, Russia recognized the independence of Ukraine, Georgia and Finland; gave up Poland and the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to Germany and Austria-Hungary; and ceded Kars, Ardahan and Batum to Turkey. The total losses constituted some 1 million square miles of Russia’s former territory; a third of its population or around 55 million people; a majority of its coal, oil and iron stores; and much of its industry. Lenin bitterly called the settlement “that abyss of defeat, dismemberment, enslavement and humiliation.”
so the Fact is Germany only Got a slap on the wrist compared to the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
If the USA had not Funded Hitler and Corporate USA had not helped Build his war machine there would not have been a WW2
Standard Oil supplied oil to the Nazis from 1933 to 1945 Birds eye were Feeding Nazis who travelled to war in Ford Cars GM Trucks and Tanks and Chrysler cars
Many Flew to war in Aircraft owned By ITT they only sold the Company in 1962

Because it was turned into a "national humiliation" by nationalists and adopted by the NSDAP as a cornerstone of policy.
