Poll: Should there be a Columbus Day?

Since last Columbus Day, I have heard some bad things about Christopher Columbus concerning torture and genocide of the indigenous tribe of Hispaniola. It makes me wonder if there should be a Columbus Day. How is the tribe of Yahoo Answers divided on the issue?

I live in Pennsylvania and in 60 years I've never see anyone 'celebrate' Columbus Day, except post office and government workers who get a paid day off. There are some places in the US that don't observe Columbus Day and there are some that have replaced it with Indigenous People's Day instead, I think that's a good idea. But there are other countries that observe his arrival in the New World as well.

    No.

So far, Catholics still honor Columbus Day. The rest of the US, does not.

Hell no. At most, there should be a Leif Erikson day. But you can't find or discover land where there are already inhabitants dwelling there....
