Scared of being written up?
I started a new job today. Well the co worker says that the one manager likes to write people up if you get too many people in line and you don’t call for backup. Sometimes it’s three or more and sometimes it’s two or more. I do not want my work record ruined.. that to me just seems like something so small to write someone up for. Does anyone have any advice at all?

Ask your trainer what the rules are on calling for backup. It's actually not a small thing. Long lines are a major cause of customer dissatisfaction.

Yeah, my advice is call for backup whenever there's two or more in line, so that you don't get written up.

Don't let the lines build up and be on your best behavior for the next few months. Show up on time, don't talk back to customers and don't give attitude. Follow the procedures and policies and you shouldn't get written up. If you're going to be late call your boss.
I've only been written up once (in 10 years of working retail) because I forgot my phone and I was late because I couldn't find a parking spot in an extremely busy mall.

My advice would be to find out what the company policy for calling for back up on cash is. Follow it and you can pretty much fight any write up you get.
Also, in most companies, you need several write ups before any discipline happens. That's something else you should clarify if it's not laid out clearly in your employee manual.

Yes, call for backup when they tell you too.
Publix is great about that. Walmart & Aldi, not so much. But locations vary. The one closest to me has short lines usually, The one 4 miles farther ALWAYS has long lines. I won't step foot in there because even in the middle of the night, at least 5-6 people ahead of you.
I was a manager for about 3 years and never wrote anybody up. But even if you are once or twice, they are not going to fire you over it unless you are just a bad worker. And it usually takes 3 write ups.
When I had a problem with someone, I would cut their hours. I had one guy that was pretty much worthless for anything except cleaning walls so he only came in every 2-3 weeks. Another guy, just could not make pizza without screwing up so I only used him for dishes on fri & sat nights, 3-4 hours each night.
