I finally got myself a car, but haven't driven for 7 months, should I book myself a driving lesson or just see how things go?
Do I book myself a driving lesson to refresh myself on manoeuvres like reversing etc or not?

It depends on how much driving experience, you have.
You may want to study up, on driving rules & laws.
If it’s been so long, you don’t feel comfortable.... have someone drive you to a big parking lot & practice a little.
Then have the friend ride with you & drive on the road. Preferably, when there’s very little traffic, so you can get used to it.
Have your friend watch you & tell you, what you’re doing wrong, if anything.
You’re also going to want to, familiarize yourself with the new car & where everything is. (Lights, brights, wipers, etc.)

Normally driving is like riding a bike, you'll probably be surprised how quick you pick it back up. -Malini

Just practise somewhere quiet. 7 months isn't so long.

Legally you can drive, but it might be sensible to have an experienced driver with you the first time. Do read the drivers handbook, you don't need to be searching for the switch to do whatever while you are on the road

If you have a drivers license just practice driving.
Read up on the rules at intersections etc.
If you go on the expressway remember most speed limits are 70 mph. When you merge you want to be going the speed limit when you enter the right lane so you don't pull in front of traffic doing 50 mph and causing a mile long back up behind you.
