    The mean is the total of all the scores, divided by the number of scores.

    Total of all the scores: (5 * 80) + (5 * 85) + (5 * 90) =

    (400) + (425) + (450) =

    1,275

    number of scores = 15 students

    So

    mean = total of scores / number of scores

    mean = 1,275 / 15

    mean = 85

    Hope that helps!

  • (80 * 5 + 85 * 5 + 90 * 5) / (5 + 5 + 5)

    5 * (80 + 85 + 90) / 15

    (80 + 85 + 90) / 3

    255 / 3

    85
