Have you ever been to a place wearing something completely against the dress code by mistake?

Yes, I was invited out for dinner by a good friend, he was an attorney and we were meeting some of his friends at an upscale restaurant.
I had selected to wear silky dress pant and matching blouse. Conservative, great hair and makeup, matching heels small evening clutch handbag, picture perfect right? I have always found that men around notice me, I'm walking arm and arm with my date and we get to the host/mgr at the restaurant and he says mademoiselle cannot come in unless one is wearing a skirt. “What? But I can say that I am dressed so beautifully.” I was sort of thinking, omg where can I get a skirt? It's evening and the stores close by are closed and I just decided that rather than make a fuss or ask to go home, I said to my longtime friend, "and you forgot to mention this little requirements? " so I take the skirt from the maitre d and go to the ladies room and change and then face the introductions. In the ladies room I felt that I was still looking good though just not what I have planned. I let it go and was determined to not let it ruin the evening. No one was the wiser or they just choose to not say anything. It was not my finest moment and I was embarrassed but restaurants requiring women to wear skirts or dresses was relatively rare and I had never been to this restaurant nor had heard anything about a dress code. Live and learn. Told my friend that this was totally unnecessary and was unhappy to say the least. He apologized but it never quite took the sting out of borrowing the restaurants skirt. Just shoot me , please…..

No but my sister-in-law’s mother went on holiday and in the hotel restaurant (required at least shorts and a t-shirt but requested full dress and no swimwear even for lunch) wore a crochet virtually see-through white bikini and flip-flops while eating a full meal. The staff were glaring at her and she really embarrassed herself.
