Hello, I've had diarrhea for a couple weeks now. I dont have a lot of money to see a doctor as to why hapit's happening. Does anyone know of a way to try to constipated myself to the point it turns solid?

Thanks

I understand you don't have a lot of money to spend but this could be something very serious. Diarrhea for weeks is not normal and shouldn't be brushed off. It could be Irritable Bowel Syndrome but if you've never experienced anything like this before that's unlikely. It could be a warning sign for a LOT of serious problems such as Chrons Disease, IBD and even cancer. Please find a way to see a doctor. If you take yourself to the ER you won't have to pay anything up front but you will have a bill to pay after.

Instead of changing the stool consistency, best way to solve the problem is to treat the cause.

For diarrhea lasting that long, it should be evaluated by a doctor.

    - does it have mucus in the stool? Does it have blood in the stool? -> likely inflammation

    - does it get triggered by diary foods - lactose intolerance

    - does certain food like bread etc. result in itchy skin - coeliac disease

    - did it happen after a bad experience in restaurant or overseas? - parasite?

    - do you have vomitting, do other people have similar symptoms around you? - stomach bug?

The doctor may go through a blood test looking for thyroid levels, Full blood count, Liver and renal function test, stool sample, coeliac antibody testing etc - all of which could contribute to your symptoms and then go from there. Hope i helped :)

Ya, tablet imodium (loperamide) is used for this purpose. But you should get checked up to identify the cause and treat that.
