why does France recognise Australia's contributions in WW1? What did Australia do during the war to earn that credibility?

    They made a tremendous sacrifice in lives lost at Gallipolli and they fought in other theaters too. They fought very bravely.

    Australia sent over 419,000 men to fight in World War I, all volunteers. Of the 60,000 Australians who died in the war; 46,000 were killed while fighting in France and Belgium. Another 156,000 Australians were wounded in the war, many of them suffering permanent debilitating injuries. Australians also fought at Gallipoli, Egypt and Palestine alongside the other armies of the Entente.
