Why do Stupid Drivers NOT Know How to Pull Up Closer to the Car in Front of them at Stop Lights?? And Safety is NOT a Reason. Don't be Dumb.?

The do not, only stupid drivers do. Rule of thumb is to stop far enough back to see their rear tires, and have room to pull around if needed, and to avoid hitting them if rear ended.

I always leave a biggish gap because I was hit while waiting at lights by some idiot not paying attention. I might not have enough room to stop them hitting me, but at least I won't be opushed into the car infront which makes insurance a nightmare. Also as some one else said, if the car in front stalls, you can go around it.

You my friend are the dumb one here.

Drivers, who stay farther away from the car ahead of them, are doing this for a reason. If the car, ahead of them, dies and can't be moved right away - then you have plenty of room to turn your steering wheel and go around them. I HATE it, when I'm at a stop light and someone gets to close to me from the rear.....they are the ones being STUPID.

This is your ninth time with this rant in the past seven months, at least your third just in the past month. You are obsessing over something you shouldn't even bother about.

It's far from stupid to keep your distance from other vehicles. It's one of the main things taught in defensive driving courses. KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE. If you're asking this, it seems you need to do a defensive driving course and shouldn't be driving until you do.

Having a large gap does not make a driver "stupid". Haven't you heard of the phrase "tyres and tarmac"? I was taught by driving schools to leave such a gap so I do not roll into the car in front of me should a complete prat like you crashes into the back of me...Take a look in the mirror for an example of a dumb driver...

Safety IS a reason, don't be dumb. First off I need a way to move around the car if they can't move. What if their car breaks down and they can't pull forward when the light turns green? Second what if some moron who wants everyone on top of each other pulls up to far and HITS me? If I didn't leave a space then I'd hit the car in front of me and so on and so forth. Third reason that's SAFETY is what if someone behind me can't stop BUT is alerting me with their horn. I see they can't stop in time BUT I can pull toward the side because that gap and I don't get hit. Now same scenario but it's first responder with lights on, I can move out of their way(as I'm supposed to) because of that gap. So yes IT IS SAFETY.

While I laugh at the people who always leave a couple car lengths gap, I don't understand why it's such a big deal to YOU. I mean, big gap or small,

    WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

there's no reason to be right on top of each other.
