Would it be reasonable to permit the sale of tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana on a non-profit basis only?
The reasons I think so are because this way,
1. Those who want these substances can get them.
2. Those who feel fulfilled in providing these substances to others (e.g. those passionate about marijuana's benefits) can do so and still earn a legal salary.
3. But since the organizations providing these substances have to be non-profit, there's less of a motivation to seek out new users via advertising, trying to make the product look glamorous, trying to convince people that scientists are lying about health effects, etc.
There are also no shareholders who will demand that the business expand to bring them more profit. The organization can simply serve those who choose to come to their doors and not be forced to constantly seek out new users.

Alcohol and tobacco have to be taxed. If this is for your personal use, grow/make your own, GridKid.

....and you're hoping to get your supplies cheaper????? Won't happen . . . here in Florida we're gonna get "medical marijuana" after a long battle . . didn't pass on first vote, but then ambulance-chaser lawyer John Morgan (of Morgan & Morgan) made a personal donation of $10 million to the next try.......".....to end the suffering of all those sick people...." - so it passes, and guess who is in charge of handing out the store franchises (3000 of them, or 10 times as many outlets as all the WalMarts and Walgreens in Florida combined) ....... and guess who is gonna push for recreational drugs, next. And needless to say, there's gonna be hefty taxes on all sales (more money for the politicos to divide).
Non-profit????? No such thing, just crooks and bigger crooks.

I think you used a little too much tobacco, alcohol and/or marijuana before you wrote this question.
