Do excused absences look bad for college?
I’m really sick and I’ve missed 2 days of school but I have a doctor’s note, so these absences will be excused. Excused absences are still absences, so does this look bad for colleges? I have a 4.0 gpa but if by the end of the year I have 4 absences (a prediction) I don’t want that to hold me back from getting into a good college
PS i’m In an NYC public high school so this is according to NYC DOE’s rules.

I missed about a month of my senior year of high school due to severe bronchitis. I had to do my work at home. I still graduated on time and everything. It hasn't affected me in any way, shape, or form. I'm 23 now.

Colleges won't even see them, except to the extent that they are recorded on your transcript, which they won't be, unless there is a disciplinary action taken (and there won't be if they are excused) or you miss like an entire semester.

Honestly, I don't even think they ever even look at absences. they don't matter except perhaps as a reason to have done poorly, in which case absences might work to your benefit, maybe. They won't harm you.

Yes they do. Any sort of absence is bad. When you are applying for your first job, the company will approach your last school/college and will ask what your attendance was like.

No one gives a shît about two absences. You'd have to pile up much more than 4 for anyone to care.

Colleges /universities do not care about your attendance record in high school. Unless you missed so many days that you got a suspended.
