How much does housekeeping cost per hour?

My kids do it so I won't shut off the cell phones and get rid of the BIG TV (with the Xfinity package) in the game room. So I guess I'm paying about $400 a month to keep the house clean and my wife happy.

I guess it would depend upon where you live.

I live in a mid-sized city in Michigan (I think it's the 2nd largest but aren't sure). My housekeeper charges $20 an hour. I've had her 8 years and she comes every two weeks. One week she does the "wet" stuff - the bathrooms and kitchens and the next time she does the rest of the place. I now pay her $110 a month (it was $100) which takes into account those two months of the year in which she works 3 times instead of the usual 2. She often works more than 4 hours but doesn't charge me extra for it - she normally puts in 4 hours. The only time I do pay her more is when I have her wash my windows - and then I pay her $20 an hour.

Where I live she is considered to be charging a lot. My sister has a housekeeper who cleans her 3 bedroom, 2 bath home for only $35 total - which I think is ridiculously low.

Also when I used a maid service many, many moons ago they charged a set rate depending upon how many rooms they did. If I remember correctly it was $85 for my two bedroom apartment, one bathroom, living room, full dining room and kitchen. I'm sure it would be more now.

Friend in Miami - FLA pays $350 a week for a lady to come in 2 days a week - about 4 hours at a time.

Friend in Hagerstown, Maryland pays $175 a week for 3 days - 4 hours a day.

Ask a professional housekeeper or a service manager what they charge.

Depends on the housekeeper. My maid charges $150 and spends about four hours at my house.

Depends how within the law you're willing to be if you know what I mean
