France has the world's #1 rated medical system now, according to international ratings organizations.

They are different in what you pay for service on demand and what you get in a standard medical plan.
Just like in the USA a small town does not have a huge hospital or specialist for every possible aliment you may get.
The basic medical plans are similar and cheaper in France. Geography and population density of the two countries is part of this.
Neither country has FREE to user UNLIMITED Medical care.
Both countries allow you to purchase extra private insurance if you want extra coverage over the standard plan. Not going to list hundreds of details for each plan.
Every doctor in the USA or France is not an expert on every possible medical situation.
Both have their specialists that have a waiting list of patients.
It is not unusual in France to have an Emergency Doctor dispatched by Ambulance to an incident to begin treatment before the ambulance gets to a Hospital.
Is either system perfect? NO they are not. For the average person for most situations the price for care is cheaper in France. That means the part paid by taxes/premiums and the part direct from your pocket.
Medical schools in both countries have similar expectations from their graduates in terms of skills. The salary paid tends to be higher in The US.
You can probably get much more English language care in France than you can get French language care in the US.
The majority of your medicals costs will be reimbursed through state health insurance in France, usually in the region of 70% for visiting a doctor, dentist or specialist, around 80% of French hospital costs, and up to 100% of prescribed medications. The rest of the medical fees have to be covered by the patient. They can purchase private insurance to cover this. Most get this as part of their employment package from employer.
French healthcare insurance reimbursements are then sent directly to your bank account and usually take five to 10 business days. US bureaucracy does not move that fast.
The basic fees are just part of your taxes. The premium for basic care is ZERO to the individual.
The US system can get complicated when you consider each of the 50 states has their slightly different things in the numerous plans available to the average person.depending on what state they live in, the state they receive care in,
What is your real question?
Cost to new parent for pre birth care, day of delivery costs and after care?
Cost of diabetic supplies for years and years.
Cost to patient for broken leg or the waiting time for a heart transplant.
Considering that the USA has about 5 times the population of France you can expect more of anything in the USA be that surgical rooms, specialists or emergency wards.
The 1% of the world do not partake in the local medical plans and go to whatever treatment place or doctor they want too and pay whatever the price is because they can.
The average family in France gets average care for an average lower price than a similar family in the US.
You can pick it apart stating one extreme situation of some rare thing. some remote location for those it is a case by case which system is better for an individual with extreme special needs.
What does that FREE care cost?
To fund universal health care in France, workers are required to pay about 21 percent of their income into the national health care system.
In the US you pay less in taxes. The money comes out of your other pockets for premiums, co pays and deductibles. At the end of the year the average American pays out about twice as much as the average French person.
In France, the sicker you are, the more coverage you get. For people with one of 30 long-term and expensive illnesses — such as diabetes, mental illness and cancer — the government picks up 100 percent of their health care costs, including surgeries, therapies and drugs.
Are there patients and doctors that abuse and cheat the systems? YES

the doctors in France are always drunk after lunch and only do a couple operations a day whereas American doctors will do 5 or 6 operations a day completely sober
