Religion and Spirituality, in light of 1 Cor. 1:18, what kind of "power" do you think Paul is referring to when he speaks of the cross?

Update:

1 Cor 1:18

18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

Just as Paul answered - the Cross is the power of God unto salvation for all who believe in and follow and obey Jesus Christ, because on the Cross, Jesus shed His precious blood and died to buy us back from the Devil, forgive our sin and reconcile us back to the Father. That's why Colossians 1:13 says, He delivered us OUT OF Satan's kingdom of darkness and translated us INTO the kingdom of the Son of God's love.

On the Cross was where Jesus proved He had dominion and victory over the world, (in the world you will have tribulation but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world John 16:33) - the flesh - His flesh was pierced and His blood shed and He even died for us so that we could be spiritually healed and saved) - and the Devil - Jesus wiped out the handwriting of requirements that were against us and nailed them to the Cross and having disarmed principalities and powers, He made an show of them, openly triumphing over them in the Cross (Colossians 2: 14 & 15)

The power to save God's beloved children and to make Heaven available to us.

I believe it is either the power of having favour from God or the power of resurrection or the power to change and stop sinning

How is death, which God never created, part of God's power?

God created us like Himself, eternal.

The resurrection is that eternal life, not death or sacrifice.

How nice, a question for bible-thumping morons.

Very likely the same "power" Paul wrote about in Romans 1:16. "Power" is associated with "the Spirit", Luke 4:14, Romans 1:4, 15:19, and "God", 1 Cor. 2:4-5, "God's power", Psalms 66:7.

    1 Corinthians 1:18

For the preaching of the cross - Ὁ λογος γαρ ὁ του σταυρου, The doctrine of the cross; or the doctrine that is of or concerning the cross; that is, the doctrine that proclaims salvation to a lost world through the crucifixion of Christ.

Is to them that perish foolishness - There are, properly speaking, but two classes of men known where the Gospel is preached: απολλυμενοι, the unbelievers and gainsayers, who are perishing; and σοζομενοι, the obedient believers, who are in a state of salvation. To those who will continue in the first state, the preaching of salvation through the merit of a crucified Savior is folly. To those who believe this doctrine of Christ crucified is the power of God to their salvation; it is divinely efficacious to deliver them from all the power, guilt, and pollution of sin.
