Do Atheists consider the worship of the sun a better alternative to the worship of God because the sun is tangible?

while a lot of people then and now worship the sun and without the sun we would all die. But it is not a thinking being like our creator. He is loving and kind and gives us rules to live by. The sun is just a hot bowl of burning gasses. Much like most of our political leaders who think they are Gods.

Worship is stupid no matter what you worship. You get nothing out of it and the worshiped object does not care (the sun) or does not even exist (god).

The Son from the German root word sonne is the Sun. Where does the Father dwell? In heaven, of course. And who has the best view of the heavens but the Son/Sun. "You cannot get to the Father except through the Son". The whole Jesus story is based on astrotheology. We are Sun worshipers even if we don't know it. Jesus is said to have walked on water. The Sun walks on water if your in a boat on a clear night at sunset. Just google images of the Sun walking on water.

I mean, yes. If you absolutely HAD to worship something the Sun is a better alternative. It gives us energy and light. Without it we wouldn't exist. It doesn't require worship but it doesn't mind if you worship it anyway. Sounds okay to me.

Not a bad idea. You can live without god, but we can't live without the sun. Certainly more value than god, even to an Atheist.

Better, no. But it would make for a better hypothesis or theory, because it is something that we can actually measure. We could measure to see if the sun sometimes sends people down to be kings or queens.

With God, not so much. There's nothing to test, there's nothing to measure, there's nothing to verify. So yeah, I'd prefer it if religious people all did worship the sun, since it would mean that the theory or hypothesis can be tested and worth considering. Otherwise you may as well be speaking of Zeus or Kali or Quetzalcoatl, because they're just as useless as God is. But Christians and the like seem to take pride in God being unfalsifiable... which is odd.
