Use your own skills to hand-make gifts for your nieces - it doesn't need to be expensive to be cherished. Friendship bracelets? Hair bows? Check Pinterest for ideas for inexpensive handmade diy gifts.

When you make something for a loved one, your affection for them grows too.

    Buy them a llama.

Don't give anything to anyone who doesn't give presents back to you. Christmas gift giving is supposed to be reciprocal. Anyone who says otherwise is talking rot.

Buy them gifts anyway as giving is more about the good person you are then the people receiving.

It is fortunate that you have 11 months to figure this out.

My family lives with the traditional, "Christmas is family" thing.

Our household is the adults give the children things, the children give nothing, and the adults give each other things.

But I do feel like if they don't give you anything you don't need to give them anything. Embracing the relationships you have with them is most important.

Make donations in their name to a charity.
