What are the similarities and the differences between the past and the present?

Update:

I mean the similarities and the differences between life in the past and the life in the present.

Update 2:

Life in the past was kind harsh. People, for example, didn't have running water; they had to walk sometimes miles to find drinking water and how about heat and air conditioning! Doctors and hospitals were hard to reach..

As far as the similarities I don't know! People still have that same eager to know and discover. They still love money and success if its not worse nowadays.

I need some ideas so I can write a paragraph about the past and the present with their differences and similarities.
