How would have Wallis Simpson changed the country for the better.?

The King was a very popular man with the public. He was a mould breaker, not too keen on formalities and liked to enjoy himself. There was little or nothing that he wouldn't do to make his wife happy. I don't know if she would have been a good influence but, she would most certainly have been THE influence for good or for ill.

Unlikely that she would have done much for the better. Indeed King Edward had a large popularity for a while, but his performance in WW2 (after he had abdicated) was poor, and he and Wallis were kept well away from the important action.

By putting Ribbentrop in charge of it. That is why we encouraged her and Edward to go for a boat trip with a one way ticket.

Given her alleged sympathies with Hitler and the Nazis, that alone could have meant huge harm for the UK. And she wasn't married to Edward until after he abdicated and they moved to France, in any case.

She would not have changed it for the better, quite the reverse in fact, and edward was a stupid selfish man who did not care for the traditions of royalty, he thought most of it was silly and boring, we got lucky when he abdicated.

Yes she would have advanced the cause of African American women like herself.

I doubt she would have. I can't think of anything in particular she would have contributed. She wasn't stupid, by all accounts, but she was ignorant in a variety of ways, and an ignorant woman in control of an easily manipulated king was inevitably going to cause problems.

She already did. By her marrying him, the Government could get rid of Edward VIII.

She couldn't have done anything to effect change - she was merely the Kings mistress at the time of the abdication and he was not allowed to marry her - even if he had been, she would have only been Queen Consort (as todays Kate will be) and therefore have very little influence.
