When the religious Egyptians believed they will live forever in their mummified graves, how stupid were they?

That is just as mad as thinking a christian god exists. Well perhaps not as mad as that

It's not a question of stupidity, it's a matter of indoctrination--virtually all children believe things their parents teach them to believe, and the ancient Egyptians all grew up with that shared set of beliefs, however silly they may seem to us today.

Presumably you're making a somewhat clumsy backhanded swipe at those among us who hold similar religious beliefs today. If you are, then you need to learn that you don't persuade anybody by insulting them. Nobody is going to give up deeply-held religious beliefs just because some anonymous knob on the internet said they were stupid. So...what's the point?

They were no more stupid than some living today who also belive in the immortality of the soul.
