sound bad when singing into a mic?

I purchased a professional mic and when I sing into it my voice sound so dry and horrible. What Is the problem

    A mic does not make a singer no matter the cost of the mic.

    Evidently, you're not very good, and the microphone is amplifying that fact -- making it clear to you.

    Perhaps you should have your voice evaluated by a professional vocal coach.
