I’m writing a story and I have a question about scars.?

If you had a scar on the palm of your hand from cutting it with glass or a knife and a few years later you get third degree burns on your palms, would the burn scars cover the older scar?

There's two possibilities: both scars would be visible or the burn would obliterate the previous scar. It would probably depend on the severity of the burn and the amount of keloid tissue that developed.
