Most kids squabble over things that are unimportant just like adults do but most adults have made a lifetime commitment that kids haven't made, so they break up.

Typically, when people begin to experience the emotions associated with falling in love, they are very young. Many young people have not quite matured enough to completely grasp all the concepts of what it takes to have a productive, long lasting relationship, such as compromising, impulse control, consideration for the other person's feelings and well-being, etc.
