How durable is the Shure SM7B?

I recently bought a Shure SM7B.. great mic. I was unscrewing it and positioning it to my preference. While I was doing that, I hit the rear part of the mic with the lower part attached, where the XLR cable goes in. It happened two times and it was a little *CLANK* since the material is the same. I was just a little worried. I get like that sometimes with new things I buy. Just want to reassure that no damage is done to it...

Thank you!

You absolutely did not damage that dynamic mic by bumping it. You could drop that mic on a hard floor and it would be as good as new. Those mics are used in radio studios worldwide and put up with all kinds of abuse. The only thing that goes wrong with them is the foam part will eventually wear out after several years. Shure sells replacements so no problem with that. Great mic!

Most handheld mics will survive quite a lot of abuse.

    Studio mics are more delicate.

You had better hope you didn't damage it.

Learn to handle things with more care.
