I don't know of any federal law limiting the age to purchase a knife. There may be state or local laws where you live pertaining to such transactions. My youngest son was like 14 at a fair or something. One of the guys in the group tried to buy a knife and the seller asked if he was over 16. The kid was truthful about being under 16 so the seller would not sell him the knife. Later my son went back and purchased the knife for him no questions asked.

I don't think you would have a problem buying a hunting knife.
I see people that look 16 buying them and they are not asked for any proof
of age. Give it a try, all they can say is no.

Most knives are made incredibly strong ...A 16 year old one is in just as good condition as a new one as long as it has been taken care of well .
