Do not confuse the rounds. You can down load a 357 magnum so it performs like a 38 special but never call it a 38 special load.

Works like a charm. I have done it for close to 50 years.

38 special made good songs back in the day. Do not get fooled by the name. This 38 special Magnum is dangerous

I do it all the time. No problem at all. The lighter charge and larger case volume makes all .38 special loads safe for .357 brass. The only downside is you may see more inconsistent velocities due to partially filled cases effecting the ignition of the powder, but for general, non-match target shooting and practice they would be fine.
