Will flights go down in August from New York jfk to tokyo?

Right now I’m looking at flights for jfk to Tokyo and they are really unreasonably expensive. It is around 2500 for a non stop flight. Why are they so expensive and will the prices go down anytime soon

If the airlines listed are Japan Airlines and ANA, then yes ticket prices are expensive on those airlines because they offer excellent service. See how much it is on United Airlines from Newark Liberty to Tokyo. Depending on when you are flying in August, it is still considered peak travel time so airfare many times is not cheap. I suggest you also be flexible with your dates of travel and see if you can save money by flying a day or 2 earlier/later.

Also check for flights that are not non-stop. If you can afford to do so then consider breaking the trip in about half by flying to somewhere for an overnight in a hotel before going to the airport to fly to Japan. For example, fly non-stop to somewhere on the west coast (including Vancouver) or even Honolulu for an overnight or two and then fly non-stop to Tokyo. You will arrive in Japan in better physical shape than if you fly non-stop or direct form New York to Japan.

Nope it will probably get more expensive. Summer travel is always more expensive. Look at flights from SeaTac or LAX to Tokyo and then a flight from NY to there. Is there is a big difference then consider doing that. Part of the reason for the price is it’s non stop.

August is peak season, prices are very unlikely to go down from now, and if anything they will go up as space reduces.
