Use all you fruit and vegetable waste from the kitchen, and any other plant matter which comes into the house (old cut flowers, for example). You could ask your neighbour for their lawn clippings. Cardboard and newspaper can be torn up and added to a compost heap. If you live near the coast, you could go and collect some seaweed from the beach. It's already dead once it washes up on the shore, so once you wash the salt off it rots into good compost.

    make worm compost instead.

You don't need the material volumes that way.
