Does my time spent earning associates degree count towards bachelors degree?
My plan is to get my associate degree at community college (takes two years) and then transfer to a uni to get my bachelors, which typically takes four years to earn. If my credits transfer correctly do those two years already count towards my bachelors?

Depends on the schools and the grades you get while doing the AA. But many four-year college students have done their first two years in a community college that has a working relationship with an upper level university. UC Berkeley, for example, will take qualifying community college students from California colleges.

At least some of your credits will likely transfer, but all of them may not. How quickly you will be able to finish your bachelor's degree will depend on what you choose to major in and how many of your credits apply toward that particular degree. You will surely save some time, but you might not be able to finish in only 2 years.

Yes, but how many credit hours of the courses you took for your associates degree will TRANSFER as credit hours toward a bachelors degree depends on the policies of the college OF the university you transfer to. If there is NO reciprocity agreement or it has been more than 5 or 6 academic calendar years, it IS possible zero credit hours will transfer.
Associate degrees ARE NOT REQUIRED to earn bachelors degrees.

I will add, you do not need the actual AA degree to transfer, in fact if that is your plan, do two year transfer credits. That is really one reason the CC was designed, to replace the first 2 years at uni.

Credits transfer, not years in school. If you do it right, you can finish your bachelors degree in two years.
When I transferred with an AA degree, I only had three lab sciences, but my university needed 4. So I had to make up the deficiency.
