Is it impossible for the Bible to be what it claims to be? - Revelation from God; The WORD of God!?

Update:

If you answer that it is impossible; how do you know it’s impossible? Do you know everything? If you don’t know everything, then how can you say that it is impossible?

Update 2:

A circle is a circle and a square is a square because that is what we are taught. Can you prove a circle is a circle and a square is a square? We agree to accept that they are what they are. Could the names change in the future? Could a square be called a circle? If that is accepted, then yes.

Update 3:

Less than 200 years ago, believing in a Creator God was accepted by the majority. Could they prove a Creator God existed? They agreed to accept God for who He is. Could times change in the future? Could people turn from a Creator God and look to man’s theory of Evolution? If that is accepted, then yes!

Update 4:

Does it really matter if we believe in a Creator God or in Evolution? It matters to God! If it matters to God and He is our Creator, then He has every right to be angry and punish those how He see’s fit!

Update 5:

Can a man identify himself as a woman, and use the woman’s restroom? Can a woman identify herself as a man, and use the men’s restroom? If that is accepted, then yes! Just because it is accepted doesn't make it right!

According to Titus 1:2 that it states that is impossible for God to lie so we have to believe that he inspired the Bible stated by 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.

To me, it is not a question of possibility, but a question of what reason do I have to think it likely. And, I don't see any reason to think it likely.

First and foremost, we have no clear testable evidence a God exists. And, something that doesn't exist can't be the cause of anything else.

We do, however have various holy texts from Islam, Hinduism, and thousands of other religions. They can't all be true. So, we have clear evidence that humans can claim to speak for a god, and not actually be doing so.

So, then I consider the claims. Lets start with Genesis. Does our best evidence show everything in the universe was created over the span of a week? Nope. Does our best evidence show nothing died before humans were around to eat magic fruit? Absolutely not.

Oh, I can her you now. "But, that's an allegory!" Or "A day isn't a day! A day is like 1000 years to god." Yes, yes, hold your horses. So, is Seth allegory? Enosh? Why do allegories have real kids? Where does it STOP being allegory? Why? And do you remember the sabbath 1000th year to keep it holy? Nope.

Making a day longer just makes it more confusing. Remember, plants are day 3, the sun is day 4. Honestly, there are Christians out there claiming plants predate the sun for perhaps millions of years.

And, if it is all completely some allegory, then we still have a god creating a world with suffering, disease, predators? And it was "good?"

No, the best evidence we have is the earth is billions of year old. And things died long before a snake talked a man and woman into snack time.

Goodness, we've only gone a few pages. And there's so much more ground to cover. Allowances for owning and beating slaves. A global flood for which we have cultures purportedly wiped out seeming to be completely unaffected. God sending his Son, (who is also God, but there's one God) to be born from a virgin using the power of the Holy spirit (who is also God, but there's still only one God. What do you mean you counted 3? ONE I SAY!) to sacrifice himself to himself to serve as a loophole for the rules he himself set up.

So, impossible that this is for a god? That might be into the theist's favorite land of unfalsifiable claims. How about you just give us some unequivocal evidence that this God you're claiming wrote it exists instead?

No. Why would God lie? How could God lie?

Yes, the Bible is clearly NOT what it claims to be. There are surviving Roman historical records which clearly demonstrate the Bible was created by an appointed committee of scholars for the specific purpose of legitimizing Rome's last official religion -- namely, Catholicism. After studying fourth century Roman history, it is obvious that the Bible was intended to be political propaganda. The Roman elite clearly thought they could change future history by decree, by instructing future citizens, in writing, what they would be expected to believe.

It is SUPPOSED to be the word of God as God has inspired men to write it. However, having been written many years after Jesus, and translated and edited by numerous groups, it is very unlikely to be the word of God . Very unlikely, but it is possible.

You probably think that the Quran cannot be a Revelation from God. How can you say that THAT is impossible?

I don't think it's impossible, but probably highly unlikely. I think if God wanted to give us one book that answered all our questions, told us how to live, explained explicitly what he wanted from us, etc., he could do a better job. For instance, the Bible -can't- be literally true because it contradicts itself.

But The Bible is valuable just being ancient literature. It gives us great insights into what people believed and thought and felt in those days, and how our modern religious and moral traditions came about.

    Yes it is impossible.

If it was, its promises would come through.

A god would care enough to at least keep it free of copy, translation and and numerical errors.
