in Genesis 7 v 2-3 god tells Noah?

Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, and also seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

how was Noah supposed to know which animals were clean and unclean, as these were not revealed to Moses until several centuries later in Leviticus 11

God told him. Some things are so ordinary, routine and logical, that they never make it into print.

God gives the Holy spirit to those that ask for it. (Mat.7:7)

It seems that Abel knew of the appropriateness of animal sacrifice. The animals he is reported using for that purpose proved to be “clean” ones. That Noah had this distinction in mind as pertaining to sacrifice and not eating is shown by his action as soon as he left the ark after the Flood.(Gen.8:20) And passed down to their generations.

There is no scripture that tells us what you are asking. However, in Genesis 2:19, Adam gave names to all the animals. Most likely, names suited to their habits, or looks, or sounds. In Genesis 4:3, it becomes apparent that Adam had taught his eldest sons that sacrifice was appropriate, and what sacrifices were accepted and which were not. A blood sacrifice was established in Genesis 3:21. Abraham found ram caught in a thicket to substitute for Isaac. Then, there is always 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21. If Noah knew the difference between clean and unclean animals, then it was clearly passed down from Adam, according to the Oral Tradition.

Making sense out of nonsense is a losing proposition.

Leviticus 11 defines the difference between clean and unclean animals, but Noah lived before God gave man the Law. We are not told how Noah knew which animals were clean and unclean, but he obviously knew the difference. Sacrifices to God were made before the Mosaic Law (Genesis 4:4), which means God had somehow communicated to man what animals were suitable for sacrifice (and, later, for eating).

im shocked that fully grown adults think this story actually happened lol

  • God sent the creatures to Noah he wanted saved. Genesis 6:20b two of each will go in there to you to preserve them alive. Genesis 7:9 they went in by twos to Noah inside the ark, male and female just as God had commanded Noah. Nowhere is Noah commanded to go out and gather the creatures, just collect them into the ark in which THEY went into the ark to Noah.
