Can I move out of my Texas apartment but keep paying rent through end of lease?

Two months left on lease. I have already given notice that I will not be renewing my lease. I plan to move home for the summer due to mold and electricity problems. Is it okay for me to move out but keep paying rent through the lease term?

Yes, of course. The landlord cannot move anyone else in unless he refunds you the rent you paid while the other person I’d occupying the rental.

So long as the rent is paid the landlord won't care. You could even ask about giving them back the apartment 2 months early if they rebate you 1 months rent. Then can re-rent the place 2 months sooner (but only lose 1 months rent) and you are only out 1 months rent, not 2. Worth asking about if you are interested.

Yes. I'd recommend paying it up front, when you leave and turn in the keys. Be done with the place.

Yes, you can. And you might negotiate if the landlord rents the apartment to someone else.

    You Could
