No - they are ranked 8th in global militaries. Certainly behind the US, Russia, and China. But they are also behind India & France. They are a pale shadow of the former selves. The two world wars broke them. They seem to have decided it's better to have a powerful welfare state, as opposed to a military one.

We have the military means. But we don’t have the political will.
British comedians used to vilify the French by calling them Cheese-eating surrender monkeys because they let the Nazis walk all over them in the Second World War with barely a shot fired in defence.
But there were many brave French people who were willing to fight for their Country and they did so through the “unofficial” French Resistance.
The problem wasn’t the French people, but those who led them.
That is the problem the UK faces today. Our Parliament, business, church, school, college, social and community leaders are rudderless, mixed up, confused and scared. Unable or unwilling to grow a backbone and do what’s right for the people of this nation.
They would capitulate at the drop of a hat and the enemy would just walk in and take over.
Hard to believe?
Just watch and see...!

Russia: no.
U.S.A.: no.
India: certainly. (British military technology is much more advanced, much more capable of striking at a distant nation, than is India's.)

Britain would struggle against just Germany.
