1997 Jeep grand cherokee has no spark.?
wrench hit the back of the alternator. i saw a small spark and the vehicle died. it turns over but there is no spark comming from the coil. when the key is turned the gauges do not power up. the vehicle does turn over. any ideas on where to start?

Check the fusible link. I bet you blew it out. You should check all the fuses.

You likely blew a fusible ink for the electrical system. Look in the engine compartment fuse box to see if any of the fusible links are fried. Fusible links are the larger looking fuses.

L.N. is probably right. Some cars have a really big fuse ("megafuse") on the line from the alternator.

Look at figure 42 https://www.autozone.com/repairinfo/repairguide/re... and find the 175 amp fuse feeding the red and black wire going to the alternator.

Blown out electronics that got shorted to ground. Could be voltage regulator (costs a little bit), or could be inside the alternator (lots more expensive).
Just guessing, of course.
