Citizenship questions?

I had a recent interview and passed it, however turns out I am already a US citizen through my dad so I didn't really need to go through the interview. The associate told me to file for N600 but it cost so much money to do that?

So my questions are...

Is it necessary to apply for N600?

Do I need it to get a passport?

I am basically US citizen but does not have a certificate. What do I need to do?

Update:

Citizenship questions...

Do you get naturalized first before applying for n600

or you apply N600 before getting naturalized?

Becoming a citizen of a country is one of the most important things in an immigrant's life, perhaps THE most important one. But you spend hundreds of dollars on an N-400 application and go to an interview instead of spending f*cking 5 to 10 minutes to check this out beforehand? Say, kid, do you also have unprotected sex and ask your sex partner AFTER it's over if he or she used protection?

    It just boggles my mind.

Now to your question. You became a US citizen automatically by "act of law," the Child Citizenship Act of 2000, when your parent(s) naturalized while you were still a minor. No N-600 is needed, nor do you need a Certificate of Citizenship. The latter is designed for people who cannot prove that they are a child of a US citizen. Think of a Vietnamese whose mommy got knocked up by a G.I. back in 1968, and now wants to get a US passport from the US consulate in Saigon. That's not you, yes?

You'll do now what you should have done the day after your mommy or daddy became a US citizen. Go with your parent to the nearest US passport office and apply for a passport. Your parent will show their Certificate of Naturalization and you'll surrender your Green Card. It's really that easy. Amazing, huh?

You cannot naturalize because you ARE a US citizen already. There's nothing a dog can do to become a dog.

You were told what to do. You cannot get US passport, etc, without proof of US citizenship.

You need that N-600 to get a US passport only if you have no other proof of citizenship.

How was your father a US citizen? If he naturalised while you were a child, you can use his naturalisation certificate and your birth certificate to get a first passport https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passpor...

If he was a US citizen before you were born who qualified to pass on his citizenship, check to see if he filed a consular report of an overseas US birth before you were 18. You can use that to get a first US passport.

You will not naturalise, you are already a US citizen. All you need now is a document to prove it.

    1. Is your father still alive?

    2. If yes are you in contact with him?
