USA - Mexico border? I think the existing barrier is useful. I also think there are better uses for our money than putting up more wall. I've been to the wall. In places where it would be easy to cross, the wall is either several stories high, or guarded. I saw places with no wall, but there were sheer river canyon walls a couple hundred feet high. Hard to cross unless you were a rock climber with the right equipment. But if you had that, you could get over a wall, too.

Mostly, yes. Despite what some would have you think, very few immigrants come into the country anywhere but at currently established checkpoints. Same is true for drugs.

yeap! everybody don't come illegally by walking across the border. some people cross the border in the trunk of a car and in the back of big rig trucks. people overstay visas and come in on the other side of united states on ships.
the wall will not do anything about the ones that's here
all we need are laws based on what they come here for (government programs, school and work)
require legal residence to apply for government programs
require legal residence to attend school
threaten business owners to be fined if they hire illegal aliens
if we enforce those laws some here would probably go home because they wouldn't have money to survive

Completely useless. The vast majority of drugs entering the US come through border checkpoints. A wall won't stop that.
The vast majority of asylum seekers come through border checkpoints. A wall won't stop them. The second most common way for illegals to enter the US is entering on a tourist visa and never leaving. A wall won't stop that either.
The only thing a wall will accomplish is to take land from private property owners while wasting billions on a massive yet ineffective virtue signal.
I'm a center left moderate.

the BPS says such walls are fairly effective -- therefore, I can't say it is useless unless your goal is to permit unrestrained immigration by anyone who can get here.

no it isn't useless it is keeping the illegal immigrants who are abusing free healthcare, free childcare, and free education out of America, you either come here legally or don't come at all - Republican.

No. The wall would be a deterrent that when used in conjunction with other measures (drones, increased border patrol agents, camera etc) could be used to help alleviate the crisis.
Do you call an umbrella useless because it doesn't stop every drop of rain from landing on you?

Numerous studies have shown that the border wall reduces illegal entries (entry without inspection) by up to 90% in areas where the wall has been in place. For new portions recently completed, illicit entries in the vicinity have dropped dramatically - and immediately. It is NOT a matter of "opinion" but proven through research, repeatedly! The wall is a major factor in reducing illegal immigration.

Only a truly clueless person would think the wall is useless. 99% of all illegal crossings take place where there is no wall.
