It costs about $100 dollars. Sometimes more depending on the type of kitten. As far as supplies, you can get everything a small kitten needs for under $20-$30 dollars. Most of the time, they just need open space and a lot of attention and they will explore and entertain themselves. Just make sure nothing sharp or poisonous is lying around. They are mischievous.

I budget $20 per cat per week to handle all cat related expenses: food, litter, flea treatments, licenses, vet visits & shots, toys and treats and a little extra to save up in case of emergency. If the year goes by with no emergencies, then for a week or two I set aside the $20 a week in my vacation piggy bank instead of the cats' piggy bank.

That can vary from state to state and county to county. You will need to check around. Here at Petsmart in Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth area), its $150 from the cat rescue group - all shots, spay/neutered and FELV tested are included.

If you buy decent tree house/scratching post (5 ft or taller) that can run you $300 or less. All told (food, litter, litter pan, nail clippers, scratching post/treehouse, carrier, toys and the adoption fee - figure $500 - $700 for everything you need.

My cat goes to the Vet twice a year - $125 each visit. $150 adoption fee originally, about $200 in supplies, $40 month for cat food, about $20 for litter.

My kitten was $145 adoption fee. Around $50 worth of toys and $15 a month for cat food $15 every couple months for kitty litter $10 for the litter box itself. Vet bills are another thing. $50 for her vaccines and she also has to go back to get more so another $50. Add that all up that's $335
